UV Illuminance
UV irradiance, also called UV intensity, is expressed in units of mW/cm2.
UV Cleaning
A cleaning method that uses the light energy of a low-pressure mercury lamp to remove contaminating organic substances from surfaces.
UV surface modification
A method to improve wettability by generating hydrophilic functional groups on the surface with the light energy of a low-pressure mercury lamp.
UV lamp
UV lamps, also called UV radiation lamps or ultraviolet lamps, are a general term for lamps whose emitted light wavelength is mainly in the ultraviolet region. They are further classified according to the pressure inside the lamp and the emission method. Typical lamps include ultra high-pressure mercury lamps, high-pressure mercury lamps, low-pressure mercury lamps, metal halide lamps, and excimer lamps.
UV cleaning surface modification
This is a method of cleaning and surface modification that improves adhesion and bonding by removing organic film from the surface of materials and making plastic surfaces hydrophilic through the power of the light energy of short-wavelength ultraviolet rays emitted from low-pressure mercury lamps and the ozone (O3) generated by the rays.
Functional group
A functional group is a group of atoms with a specific structure in an organic compound, and compounds with the same functional group share common properties. in a UV cleaning system, active oxygen produced by UV light strikes the substrate surface and breaks the molecular chains of the surface layer, reacting with the broken molecules to produce -OH, -CHO, -COOH, etc. -CHO, -COOH, and other functional groups are formed.
Light Source Unit
This unit can be built into existing customer transport equipment. The basic configuration consists of a UV irradiation unit and a lighting power supply. The unit can be built into conveyors, roll-to-roll conveyors, and other conveying equipment.
UV intensity
Meaning of UV irradiance and UV illuminance.
Quartz glass
A glass made from SiO2 with a high SiO2 purity.
Wavelength
In general, the "wavelength" of light refers to the periodic length of the wave.
Organic and inorganic
Substances containing carbon (C) are called "organic" and other substances are called "inorganic. However, some compounds such as carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide, and salts of carbonic acid are exempted.
UV transmission characteristics
The transmittance of ultraviolet rays at a specific wavelength in a light-transmitting material such as glass.
Reactive oxygen (i.e. free radicals, which can be destructive at high concentrations)
It is a general term for oxygen molecules in the atmosphere that have been transformed into more reactive compounds, a type of ozone.
Pollutant
Organic substances that inhibit coatings, adhesion, etc. that adhere to the surface prior to UV cleaning surface modification.
Volatile substance
A substance that readily vaporizes.
Hydrophilic
Hydrophilic refers to the ease of wetting against water.
Water repellency
Water repellency refers to resistance to wetting against water.
Illuminometer
A device that measures the illuminance or irradiance of light. Unlike those generally used for camera photography, the irradiance meter used in UV cleaning and surface modification equipment must be selected according to the wavelength to be measured.
Regulator
A device that regulates the amount of material that passes through the connected piping within a certain period of time.
Flowmeter
A measuring instrument that measures the amount of water that passes through the connected piping within a certain period of time; in UV ozone cleaning and reforming equipment, it is used to measure the amount of cooling water for lamp cooling and other applications.
Irradiation area
The area irradiated by UV (ultraviolet) rays, which tends to decrease rapidly once it is outside the area under the UV lamps, and is smaller than the light source area of the UV lamps.
Irradiation distance
Distance between the UV lamp and the object to be irradiated, also known as WD (Work Distance).
Interlock
Usually, a safety mechanism installed on the equipment. In our UV cleaning and surface modification equipment, especially for batch processing types, this refers to a mechanism in which the lamp turns off when the door is opened by a limit switch as a standard feature.
Exhaust Blower
Device attached to UV cleaning surface modification equipment for lamp cooling and ozone exhaust of UV irradiation equipment.
Minamata Convention
An international treaty regulating the manufacture and import/export of mercury and products containing mercury.
Ozone
An allotrope of oxygen consisting of three oxygen atoms. The molecular formula isO3。A highly corrosive, toxic gas with a characteristic fishy, pungent odor. It is produced in the air when irradiated with ultraviolet rays of short wavelengths.
Damper
In air conditioning equipment, it is a component that is installed in the middle of the piping (duct) to control the amount of airflow through the piping.
